
Dick Pritchett graduated from Alexandria High School in 1961, Jacksonville State University in 1965 and The University of Alabama in 1966. Upon graduation, Dick and wife Sherron McCullars Pritchett moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, to begin an automobile career that lasted for thirty-five years. In Charlotte, Dick worked for Ford Marketing Corporation, and rose to the position of Business Manager for the Charlotte District which included 180 Ford dealerships in North and South Carolina.
In 1975 Dick and Sherron, along with their son Brad, moved back to their family farm near Anniston, Alabama. Dick continued his automotive career as Vice President of King Motor Company in Anniston, Alabama. He served as General Sales Manager of the Sunny King Ford, Honda, and Chrysler group. Dick became a partner in Superior Olds-Buick in 1981 and in 1987 became President and owner of Dick Pritchett Mitsubishi. He retired from the automobile business in 1997 and enjoys quail, pheasant, duck, and goose hunting in Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Texas, and South Dakota. His passion is to ride the mountains of Colorado with the Colorado Mule Riders. This group includes thirty-five men from all over the United States, who meet in Colorado Springs each year to ride and explore the beautiful mountains...
Dick began writing poetry in 2003 and loves writing stories and poems about God, mules, and football. His annual trip to Colorado keeps him in touch with the mountains and the mule life he loves so much. You will learn more about The Colorado Mule Riders and their adventures in the mule section of the book. Currently, Dick is a member if The Calhoun County Mounted Patrol. He just returned from Mobile, where he worked with the Mobile City Mounted Patrol during Mardi Gras. His unit worked patrolling the streets and controlling the crowds that were enjoying the Mardi Gras parades. Dick is a graduate of JSU's continuing education progran and received his state license in auctioneering upon graduating from JSU's first auctioning class in 2003. He holds auctions in the Anniston and surrounding areas.
Dick's other passion is cooking. Upon retirement, Dick began taking cooking lessons with Prudence Hilburn, one of the leading cooks in America, who resided in a small town near Anniston. Prudence teaches cooking classes at JSU and a special monthly class at Dick's church, Parker Memorial Baptist in Anniston. He enjoys visiting the sick and senior citizens of his church. He still enjoys the farm, hunting, horses, mules, and the life style he lives. He stays busy on the farm, and he and Sherron look forward to spending special time with their granddaughter Morgan who lives in nearby Birmingham.
